Islam Care Centre works to help support Islam and Muslims in Ottawa through the social, spiritual and mental health aspects of daily life.
We have a dedicated board, a compact workforce, and a large group of amazing volunteers who help run our programs. Our partners throughout the city offer a variety of services to empower, uplift and create ease in the lives of Muslims in our city.
While we wait to open our new building, we are still actively planning and supporting our brothers and sisters the best way we know how: with care.
Role Description
This is an internship role as a Web Developer at Islam Care Centre. As an Intern Web Developer, you will work both on-site at our location in Ottawa, ON and have the flexibility to work remotely. Your day-to-day tasks will involve designing and developing web pages, optimizing website performance, ensuring cross-browser compatibility, and collaborating with the team to implement new features and functionality. This role offers a great opportunity to gain practical experience in web development and contribute to meaningful projects.
Responsibilities
- Work on redesigning and re-developing the current Islam Care website.
- Handle change requests to current Islam Care and Muslim Family Services of Ottawa’s websites.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in web development languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience with WordPress & Elementor
- Knowledge of responsive design principles and mobile-first development
- Understanding of web accessibility standards
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Google Drive and Mail, in particular)
